Hi! On Friday, June 11, I watched a Movie and product placement was spotted: Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck in In the Heights (2021).
Is it really product placement though? Mister Softee appears as the well funded competitor to the sympathetic Piragua Guy played by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Not the most sympathetic depiction. Also, I’m pretty sure the Piragua Guy‘s antipathy towards Mister Softee was in the original Broadway show. I know it was part of the Les Miserables parody the original Broadway cast of In The Heights did years ago.
