I noticed a slight problem with this when I saw it – but I nevertheless needed to research to confirm: The New Yorker has never once, since its founding in 1925, put the name of an author or a story or for that matter ANYONE’s name on the cover except for the signatures of various artists that did the cover art. Anyone who subscribes long-term would probably have noticed – but I get it. How effective would the placement be if it was opened to an article? Not very …
