Breaking Bad is the story of Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. He turns to a life of crime, producing and selling methamphetamine accompanied by a former student, Jesse Pinkman. Series creator Vince Gilligan has said that if the show has a theme, it’s “How a diagnosis of terminal cancer wreaks havoc on a person’s life.”
