A stethoscope is a medical device that allows a person to listen to the sounds inside a patient’s body, such as blood flowing through their vessels and air escaping from their lungs. A properly made stethoscope should have better acoustic qualities than other types of laryngoscopes with greater emphasis on high frequency sounds, with the design parameters being specific to the task of use.

The Littmann Stethoscope is designed for use by physician assistants, nurses, paramedical personnel and respiratory therapists who are caring for patients in ambulatory settings. It contains two semi-circular headphone cups with volume control. This stethoscope features lumen technology which enables them to minimize redundant rubbing sounds during patient assessment including traditional lung auscultation.
