Succession is an American satirical comedy-drama television series created by Jesse Armstrong. The show premiered on June 3, 2018, on HBO. The series follows the Roy family, owners of global media conglomerate Waystar Royco, as they struggle for control of the company amid the declining health of family patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox). In October 2021, the series was renewed for a fourth season.
Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook play the roles of Kendall, Roman and Shiv, respectively, Logan’s children working for the company. Matthew McFadyen plays the role of Tom Wambsgans, Shiv’s husband and Waystar executive; Nicholas Brown as Logan’s grandnephew, also working for the company; Alan Ruck as Logan’s eldest son; and Hiam Abbass as Logan’s wife. Peter Friedman, Natalie Gold and Rob Yang are also part of the main cast, while Dagmara Dominczyk, Arian Moayed, J. Smith-Cameron, Justine Lupe, David Rush and Fisher Stevens played recurring roles before being cast in the main cast.
“Succession” earned widespread critical acclaim for its script, acting, music and art direction. The series has received numerous awards and nominations, including a British Academy of Television Award for Best International Program, a Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series and an Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. Cox won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series and Strong won an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
