Forrest Gump) is a comedy-drama, the ninth feature film directed by Robert Zemeckis. Based on the novel of the same name by Winston Groom (1986), it was released in 1994. The most successful film of the director is both among the audience (the first place by receipts in 1994) and among critics and professional cinematographers (38 awards all over the world, including 6 “Oscar” prizes).
The film centers on the main character, Forrest Gump from the fictional town of Greenbow, Alabama. According to the story, the mentally retarded Forrest’s life as a bird’s feather carries him through the most important events of American history of the second half of the XX century. However, he is not lost, and thanks to his athletic ability, his friendly disposition, and the extraordinary resilience instilled by his mother, he performs a military feat, achieves the “American dream” and unwittingly, in passing, influences the U.S. politics and popular culture.
