Pepsi was first developed in 1893 by Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist and inventor from New Bern, North Carolina. “Brad’s Drink” was marketed as a brain tonic and energizing soft drink. It quickly became popular across the United States. In 1898, Bradham renamed his drink Pepsi-Cola. The Pepsi-Cola Company was incorporated on June 23, 1902, and by 1904 it had become one of the best-known soft drinks in America.
